The Secret of Success

“Know what you want – and get it”
– Sushmita Sen, Miss.Universe, 1994

‘Take what you want, and pay for it’ says God
– Old Spanish proverb

I’m going to tell you a little story.

It’s about a man who wanted to know the secret of success, and decided to find out from a Guru.

Now this was a wise, old sage who knew every secret of Life. He lived in splendid isolation on a mountain-top. Our hero set out on his difficult journey to meet this wise man.

He was determined to reach the top, and so he got over many obstacles on his way. Fighting through thick forests, scaling huge boulders, escaping from wild beasts, at last he clambered to the peak and lay on the ground, gasping for breath.

A few minutes later, he sat up… and beheld the Guru seated in deep meditation.

4 Reasons Why Everyone Needs Time Management Skills

At a recent college reunion, twenty-five years after we first entered college, I met many old classmates and re-learned one important lesson.

Being Time Efficient Is HIGHLY Profitable!

One theme kept popping up over and over again in our conversations.

“Our kids rarely get to see their dad, he’s so busy!”

“I go to work at 6 a.m. and get back around 7 in the evening!”

“My son WON’T be a doctor – because he sees how crazy our schedule is!”

And invariably, the next question is: “As a surgeon, you must be working very long hours, right?”

They were all surprised when I said my average ‘work day’ at the hospital is 2 hours – except when I’m operating, when it is 7 hours (or longer, depending upon how complex the surgery is).

How do I manage this?

How do I have so much “free time” when everyone else has “No Time”?

How am I juggling so many exciting projects in ADDITION to my regular work?

It’s really quite simple. Let me explain.

When this happens, what will you do?

Will you just give up?

Or will you persist and struggle and succeed?

A lot of that depends upon your attitude and experience – how badly you want to succeed. Some of it depends upon your skills and network. And a tiny bit depends upon luck or chance.

New Habits For Success And Happiness

Can you buy happiness?

Some believe you can. And some like David Roth say, “Money can’t buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht so you can pull up right alongside it!”

But here’s a shocker. Happiness and success are readily available… without costing a cent.

What do I mean?

You see, some people just wish and dream of a day when they’ll be able to afford things that’ll make them happy and successful. Things like a new home, exotic vacations, and more.

But happiness and success aren’t derived from tangible things. It’s a state of mind that allows you to further your progress in both your personal and professional life so that every day, you’re achieving goals and reaching new milestones toward a better life.
